Pulling Pressure Cookers . . . Predictable!

It had to happen, the only surprise is that it took so long . . .

Following the Boston Marathon bombing last Monday in which pressure cookers were used for the explosion, the cookware giant has decided to temporarily stop selling the items in their Massachusetts stores.

Has anyone proposed banning the sale of pressure cookers at garage sales yet?  You can't be too careful!!! . . . WAIT a minute, YES YOU CAN!

Pressure cookers do scare the crap out of me.  I'm afraid to use one for fear of blowing a hole in my kitchen ceiling, but pressure cookers don't kill ceilings, people who don't read directions kill ceilings! Nor do these maligned pots kill people . . . Islamic terrorists who build bombs inside pressure cookers kill people. 

Instead of running around flailing our hands in the air in an effort to DO SOMETHING, we should try focusing on, and dealing with, the real source of the problem .  .  .

.  .  . Even if it's NOT politically correct! 

Yes, President Soreloserman, It DOES All Come Down To Politics!

With his ego still tender from a stinging Senate rejection of "gun-control" legislation and surrounded by an obligatory collection "props",  President Obama stood in the White House Rose Garden yesterday  and pitched a major league hissy fit!

President Obama angrily blamed the defeat Wednesday of his centerpiece gun-control proposal on lies spread by the National Rifle Association, calling it “a pretty shameful day for Washington.”
“The gun lobby and its allies willfully lied about the bill,” Mr. Obama said in the White House rose garden about 90 minutes after the vote. “It came down to politics.”

Such passion, such determination, (such an angry face)! Makes you wonder why  the President hasn't displayed similar emotion with regards to our inability to obtain justice for the four Americans killed SO many months ago in Benghazi?

Can you say "selective (very political) outrage"?

This is a terrifying point of view that is increasingly shared by those (including our President) who are advocates of big government and the nanny state.

We should take nothing for granted and must be vigilant, starting with our schools.  If these proponents can influence our children (and they are OUR children), then they will have gone gone a long way to permanently changing our society into something we will not recognize.

Margaret Thatcher, England's 'Iron Lady', Dies

In a statement this morning, David Cameron said it best:

"Today is a truly sad day for our country. We've lost a great prime minister, a great leader, a great Briton. As our first woman prime minister, Margaret Thatcher succeeded against all the odds. And the real thing about Margaret Thatcher is she did not just lead our country, she saved our country. And I believe she will go down as the greatest British peacetime prime minister."

And truly, she did save the British from themselves.  A great woman, whose words and ideals we should never forget!

Rest in peace, Lady Thatcher!

Memphis Soul Comes To The White House . . .

Next week Justin Timberlake, Al Green, Queen Latifah, and many others will perform at the White House in a "Memphis Soul" concert, the White House announced today.

"As part of their 'In Performance at the White House' series, the President and First Lady will invite music legends and contemporary major artists to the White House for a celebration of Memphis Soul music. The program will include performances by Alabama Shakes, William Bell, Steve Cropper, Al Green, Ben Harper, Queen Latifah, Cyndi Lauper, Joshua Ledet, Sam Moore, Charlie Musselwhite, Mavis Staples and Justin Timberlake, with Booker T. Jones as music director and band leader. The President’s remarks will be pooled press and the entire event will be streamed live.

It is likely that this 'cultural event' is costing *someone* some serious money!

. . . Meanwhile school children from Memphis (or any other American city) aren't allowed to tour the White House because with Sequester cuts there just isn't any money.
