Unfortunately, the term “Islamist” has become shorthand for “Muslims we don’t like.” It is currently used in an almost exclusively pejorative context and is often coupled with the term “extremist,” giving it an even more negative slant.
The Blaze does a nice job of rejecting CAIR's claims and requests. You can read the article in its entirety here.
And reject it we should, although in a snarky moment of irrationality I wondered if perhaps we need to be a bit more sensitive to the Muslims among us. Maybe we SHOULD stop using the word Islamist. And in an effort to stomp out "negative shorthand" why not stop using the word Muslim too. Let's just call the followers of Muhammad "theologically challenged" ... and the vengeful homicidal followers of Muhammad "REALLY theologically challenged murdering barbarians"?
Somehow I doubt that CAIR will fully appreciate my sarcasm . . . maybe we need to add the word "humorless" to our new descriptors.
